Govt gives Sports Secy Chaturvedi additional charge of labour ministry

NEW DELHI – The government has appointed Sports Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi as the Labour and Employment Secretary after former secretary Sumita Dawra "relinguished" the post, the Appointments Comittee of Cabinet said in a release Friday. Chaturvedi's "additional charge" will be "till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier," the release said.
Chaturvedi is a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Officer from the Bihar cadre, and was appointed as the secretary in the sports ministry in 2021. Dawra had taken over as the secretary of labour ministry in March, 2024. She is a 1991 batch Indian Administrative Officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. End
