IMD sees heatwave prevailing over parts of interior Odisha till Sunday

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department on Friday said that heatwave is likely to prevail over parts of interior Odisha till Sunday. Additionally, hot and humid conditions are expected to continue over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until Saturday, as well as along the coastal areas of Gujarat from Sunday to Tuesday.
The weather bureau also forecast a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 3-5 degrees Celsius over northwest India, including Delhi, over the next two days. However, temperatures are expected to rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius from Sunday for the subsequent three days. Furthermore, the department indicated that minimum temperatures in east India may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius on Friday, and are expected to remain stable for the next three days.
The weather office also said that maximum temperatures in central India are likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius gradually over the next two days, with no significant change expected in the following three days. In some parts of South India, maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next two days, with no notable change likely thereafter. In Maharashtra, temperatures are expected to remain stable for the next three days, followed by a decline of 2-3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures during the subsequent two days.
Meanwhile, the weather bureau said that strong surface winds, ranging from 20-30 kilometre per hour, with gusts reaching up to 40 km per hour, are likely in parts of northwest India until Saturday. A trough extending from Bihar to northeast Assam is expected to bring scattered to fairly widespread light or moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, over Arunachal Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim till Saturday.
Isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall is expected over central Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam from Saturday to Tuesday. End
