IMD sees heavy rainfall or snowfall in Arunachal Pradesh on Fri, Sat

MUMBAI – Under the influence of a western disturbance and a cyclonic circulation, heavy rainfall or snowfall is likely over parts of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday and Saturday, the India Meteorological Department said. A wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is also seen over parts of Arunchal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on Friday and Saturday, the department said.
Under the influence of the same weather systems, a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 km per hour is likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on Thursday, the weather agency said. A wet spell with thunderstorms and lightning is also seen over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, the agency said.
Strong surface winds with speeds of 25-35 km per hour are seen over parts of Punjab, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh till Friday, the weather bureau said. Dust-raising winds are also likely over parts of west Rajasthan till Friday, the bureau said.
A north-south trough runs from north central Maharashtra to north Kerala across interior Kanataka, the weather department said. It is likely to cause a wet spell accomapnied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds of 30-50 km per hour over central Maharashtra and north interior Karnataka on the weekend, over Konkan and Goa on Saturday, over Marathwada on Sunday, over Kerala, Mahe, south interior Karnataka till Monday, and over coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam till Monday, IMD said.
The weather bureau has warned of a heat wave in parts of interior Odisha from Friday to Sunday. The department also predicts hot and humid weather conditions in isolated pockets of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Friday and Saturday, and in coastal areas of Gujarat from Saturday to Monday.
A gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 3-5 degrees Celsius is likely over northwest India in the next three days, and a rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius is seen thereafter, the weather department said. In East India, a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected in the next two days, and no significant change is likely after, the department said.
In Central India, the weather agency expects a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next three days, after which no sigificant change is seen. No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely in Gujarat in the next three days, and rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius is seen therafter, IMD said. End
