RBI notifies master direction on capital adequacy for regional rural banks

MUMBAI – Reserve Bank of India has issued revised norms on the capital adequecy requirements for all regional rural banks, it said in a nitification on Tuesday. The notification said that the revision made in the master circular will come into effect from Apr. 1.
"To enable RRBs (regional rural banks) to have current instructions at one place, a Master Direction incorporating all the existing guidelines / instructions / directives on the subject has been prepared for reference. This Direction also incorporates suitable modifications to and rationalisation in existing guidelines," the notification said.
Regional rural banks are required to maintain a minimum capital to risk weighted assets ratio of 9% on an ongoing basis, the notification said. End
