NEW DELHI – The government disbursed INR 130.29 billion to nine manufacturing sectors under the production-linked incentive schemes till December since their inception in 2020-21 (Apr-Mar), Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada said on Tuesday.

The nine sectors, wherein the government has disbused funds under PLI schemes, include large scale electronics, information technology hardware, bulk drugs, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, telecom products, food processing, white goods, and drones and drone components, Prasada said in a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha.

The Union Cabinet has approved an ambitious outlay of INR 1.97 trillion for PLI schemes in 14 sectors for five to seven years. The sectors that are yet to claim disbursement under PLI schemes include automobile, solar module, specialty steel, advanced chemistry cells, and textiles. Under the scheme, the government offers benefits to companies for incremental sales of products manufactured in India over the year when the scheme for the sector is announced.  End
