NEW DELHI – The Centre has released INR 1.14 trillion to states as interest-free loans for capital expenditure during Apr. 1-Feb. 14, according to Parliament's Standing Committee on Finance. Under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure, the Centre provides 50-year interest-free loans to states.
In the revised estimates for 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), the government has cut the allocation under the scheme to INR 1.25 trillion from INR 1.50 trillion estimated earlier. The loan is part of the government's capital expenditure target of INR 10.18 trillion for this year.
The government disbursed INR 1.10 trillion to states under the scheme in FY24, against the revised Budget estimate of INR 1.06 trillion. Launched in FY21, the scheme is in line with the government's thrust on capital expenditure to drive economic growth. End
