HYDERABAD – Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp Ltd. is planning to set up a budget hotel in Amaravati, the proposed new capital of Andhra Pradesh, and has submitted a proposal to the state government for 2-3 acres of land for the same, a source aware of the development told Informist.
The state-owned company is planning to build a hotel with 125 rooms at Amaravati at an estimated investment of INR 500 million, the source said. The state government has reviewed the proposal and referred it to the municipal administration department for further action, the source said.
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority will review the plan and make recommendations to the government for the land allocation, the source said.
Besides Amaravati, IRCTC has also submitted proposals for setting up budget hotels in Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry in the state, the source said. IRCTC is planning budget hotels of 100-125 rooms spread over 2-3 acres of land with capex of around INR 500 mln, depending on the city and the location, the source said.
Andhra Pradesh is fast-tracking greenfield projects in Amravati to complete the capital city within three years. The state government has allocated land to several public and private entities to set up offices within the capital city region.
While the Amaravati project proposal is expected to be finalised shortly, negotiations on other locations are still in progress, the source said.
On Thursday, shares of IRCTC ended at INR 714.85 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.4% from its previous close. End
