NEW DELHI – India hopes to sign a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Oman by the end of 2025, a commerce ministry official said. The negotiations are complete, the two sides only need to finalise some specifics related to the text of the trade pact, the official added.

India had started negotiations for a free trade agreement with Oman in 2023. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, during his visit to Muscat in January, had met his Oman counterpart Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef and the two leaders had agreed to expedite the negotiations for a deal.

After the United Arab Emirates, Oman would be the second country from the Gulf Cooperation Council to have a free trade agreement with India. Oman had a total trade of $8.95 billion with India in 2023-24 (Apr-Mar), which included Indian exports worth $4.43 billion.  End
