HYDERABAD - Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro Ltd. has emerged as the lowest bidder for INR-8.1-billion tender floated by Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority, the nodal agency developing the greenfield capital city at Amaravati, a senior state government official told Informist.

As per the tender, L&T has to develop urban infrastructure in various layouts in zone-7 of the proposed Amaravati city covering five villages. The company emerged as lowest bidder by quoting 3.94% excess of the actual value of the tender, the source said. This is one of the 22 projects, amounting to INR 220 billion, approved by the state government aimed at developing infrastructure in the capital city, source said.

While several privately held infrastructure companies also emerged as the lowest bidders, NCC and L&T were the only listed companies that successfully bagged a few orders. On Tuesday, Informist had exclusively reported that NCC emerged as the lowest bidder for four tenders totalling INR 16.7 billion.

As the state government has given its nod to the tenders, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority, which falls under states municipal administration department will issue the letter of awards to the successful bidders soon, the official said. At 1352 IST, shares of Larsen & Toubro traded at INR 3,317.75 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.4%.  End
