Investment by Indian cos in overseas JVs, arms rises 43% on mo to $5.36 bln

MUMBAI – Investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries rose 43% to $5.36 billion in February from $3.75 billion in January, data released by the Reserve Bank of India Monday showed. In February last year, Indian companies had invested $3.84 billion in offshore JVs and subsidiaries.
Of the total investments in February, $3.10 billion was in the form of equity investment, against $2.16 billion the previous month. Companies committed $1.14 billion in loans, up from $324.2 million in January. Companies committed $1.12 billion through guarantees last month, down from $1.26 billion in January.
The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the central bank said. End
