NEW DELHI – The Reserve Bank of India has won the Digital Transformation award 2025 by the UK's Central Banking for its Pravaah and Sarthi initiatives. The two initiatives helped the RBI reduce the use of paper-based subsmissions for both internal and external processes. 

Sarthi, which means 'charioteer' in Hindi, digitised RBI's internal workflows. The system was launched in January 2023 and helped central bank employees store and share documents securely, improving record management and increasing the options for data analysis through reports and dashboards.

After Sarthi's success, the RBI launched Pravaah in May. Pravaah, which means a 'smooth flow' in Hindi, allowed external users to submit regulatory applications to the RBI digitally. "Pravaah has so far allowed more than 70 different regulatory applications to be digitised, supporting the work of nine RBI departments," Central Banking said in post on its website. 

"We are working on the cloud and new data centres," he says. "A lot of strategic focus is there from the top management--making the RBI agile and future-proof," Shailendra Trivedi, chief general manager-in-charge of the RBI's Information Technology department, told Central Banking.  End
