Statistics ministry to release IIP data for both February, March in April

--Govt: IIP data for February to be released on Apr 11
NEW DELHI – The statistics ministry will release the Index of Industrial Production for the months of February as well as March in April. On Wednesday, the ministry said IIP data for February would be released on Apr. 11.
This comes after the ministry's advance release calendar for the financial year 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), released last month, had said IIP data would henceforth be released on the 28th of the subsequent month. As such, the lag in publishing the data will be reduced to four weeks from six weeks. Going by the advance release calendar, IIP data for March will be released on Apr. 28.
Informist had reported in February, quoting a source, that the change in the IIP release schedule followed the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade having reduced the time lag with which it supplied data to the statistics ministry. Production data on most of the items in the IIP are collected by the commerce ministry's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. Over the past year, the statistics ministry has been pushing to improve the timeliness and frequency of the results of its surveys and official statistics.
According to data released Wednesday, India's industrial output grew at a faster clip of 5.0% in January, up from December's revised figure of 3.5%. At 5.0%, the latest IIP growth print was well above expectations of 3.5%. End
