Apr-Jan cross-border UPI transactions rise to 734,205, worth INR 2.44 bln

NEW DELHI - Cross-border transactions from the Unified Payments Interface have risen substantially since 2021-22 (Apr-Mar) with 734,205 transactions, amounting to INR 2.44 billion, taking place in Apr-Jan of FY25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

 

Cross-broder UPI transactions began in FY22 when Singapore linked its fast payment systems, PayNow, with India's UPI. Last year, 44,182 cross-border UPI transactions, worth INR 229.35 million, took place. According to National Payments Corp. of India, there are seven countries, including France, where international UPI merchant payments are accepted.  End
