Govt detected GST evasion of INR 19.5 bln Apr-Jan, INR 68 bln in last 5 yrs

NEW DELHI – The government has detected 25,397 cases of goods and services tax evasion amounting to INR 19.49 billion between April and January, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary told Parliament on Monday. The government had detected GST evasion of INR 23.03 billion in the entire 2023-24 (Apr-Mar), and of INR 67.95 billion in the last five years.

 

In the last five years, including FY25, the government detected 42,673 cases of input tax credit frauds amounting to INR 16.62 billion. The government also discovered 13,018 cases of input tax credit fraud under GST worth INR 4.65 billion this year, Chaudhary told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.  End
