IMD sees two western disturbances affecting western Himalayan region this wk

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department Monday said two western disturbances are likely to affect the western Himalayan region this week. The active western disturbance currently is likely to cause heavy falls over western Himalayan region on Monday. Fairly widespread to widespead rainfall or snowfall has been predicted over the same region till Tuesday.
This weather disturbance would also cause isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning over Haryana and Chandigarh. A similar rainfall pattern is also seen over Punjab accompanied with gusty winds, and hailstorm is also likely on Monday, the weather bureau said.
Another western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region on Sunday, the meteorological department said. This is likely to cause isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall or snowfall over Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand the same day.
Moving to the northeast region, the Met department said a cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Assam and its neighbouhood in lower tropospheric levels. This is likely to cause isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on Monday.
The weather bureau sees hot and humid weather over Konkan and Goa till Thursday and over coastal Karnataka from Tuesday to Friday. It also issued warning for heat wave over parts of coastal Karnataka Monday.
A fall in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius is likely over Rajasthan during the next three days and a gradual rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected during the subsequent two days. The bureau does not see any significant change in maximum temperatures over Gujarat for the next 24 hours. However, temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius thereafter. End
