--Govt appoints Tuhin Kanta Pandey as SEBI chairman for 3 years
NEW DELHI – The government has appointed finance secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey as the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India, the Department of Personnel & Training said in a circular late Thursday. Pandey will replace SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, whose term is set to end on Friday.
Pandey, a 1987 batch Indian Administrative Services officer, was appointed as the finance secretary in September, when T.V. Somanthan was named as the cabinet secretary. Pandey was also allocated the additional charge of the Department of Revenue in January. Pandey has been associated with the finance ministry since 2019. Earier, he served as secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management and the Department of Public Enterprises. End
