--SEBI launches Bond Central, centralised database for corporate bonds
MUMBAI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India Thursday launched Bond Central, a centralised database for corporate bonds, aimed at creating a single, authentic source of information on corporate bonds issued in India, the regulator said in a press release. The portal was developed by Online Bond Platform Providers Association and market infrastructure institutions (stock exchanges and depositories), SEBI said.
The database is expected to enhance transparency and facilitate informed decision-making amongst investors and other market participants, the regulator said. Investors can use the database to compare corporate bond prices with government securities and other fixed-income indices and access detailed risk assessments, corporate bond documents and disclosures, SEBI said.
Additional features will be added to Bond Central on an ongoing basis based on stakeholder feedback, SEBI said. This initiative complements SEBI's broader agenda to enhance market infrastructure, increase retail participation in corporate bonds, and promote a balanced investment ecosystem, the regulator said.
