Chhattisgarh to present FY26 Budget Monday along with Bihar, Jharkhand

NEW DELHI – Chhattisgarh will become the third state, alongside Bihar and Jharkhand, to have its state Budget presentation Monday. In the process, it becomes the ninth state to present its Budget in March.

 

The Budget for Meghalaya will be presented on Mar. 5, followed by the Budget for Karnataka on Mar. 7. The governments of Assam and Maharashtra will present their respective budgets on Mar. 10, while the governments of Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh will detail their budgets on Mar. 14 and Mar. 17, respectively.

 

The governments of several other states like Kerala, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh have already presented their budgets for the financial year 2025-26 (Apr-Mar).

 

Chhattisgarh had targeted a net fiscal deficit of INR 162.96 billion, or 2.9% of the gross state domestic product, for FY25, compared with 3.0% of gross state domestic product for FY24. The state government has pegged capital expenditure for FY25 at INR 223.00 billion, 20% higher than the target of INR 186.60 billion set for FY24. It has also projected a revenue surplus of INR 10.60 billion for FY25.  End
