MUMBAI – Analysts expect the weak sentiment in Bank Nifty to continue next week and the index to retest the 48500 level. The index Friday closed 0.7% lower at 48981.20 points. During the week, the index fell 0.2%.
"Falling below this level could lead to a retest of 48500. Further downside may continue, potentially dragging the index down to 48000. However, if it rises above the 20-day SMA (simple moving average) or reaches 49500, it could rally to the 50-day SMA, reaching levels of 50000 and 50250," Amol Athawale, vice president-technical research at Kotak Securities, said in a note. The resistance for the index is pegged at 50600 points.
Weak investment sentiment for emerging markets and news on US tariffs is expected to influence equity markets in the near term, Shrikant Chouhan, head-equity research at Kotak Securities, said in a note.
