MUMBAI – A cyclonic circulation over central Assam is likely to cause isolated to scattered light rainfall over northeast India, Sikkim, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal during the next seven days, the India Meteorological Department said Thursday. It predicted heavy rainfall over parts of Arunachal Pradesh Friday.
The weather bureau also said a trough runs from north Bangladesh to Telangana and an anti-cyclonic circulation lies over north Bay of Bengal. These weather systems are likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rains over West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sikkim, and Bihar till Sunday. Light to moderate rains are also likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, and Mahe for the next five days.
A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from Monday, which is likely to bring moderate rainfall or snowfall over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during the next week, IMD said.
Another western disturbance seen as a cyclonic circulation over Pakistan and its neighbourhoods and a cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan are likely to cause light rainfall or snowfall over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during the weekend. Light to moderate rainfall is likely over parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh, and central India this week.
The weather bureau expects minimum temperatures to rise by 2 degrees Celsius over northwest India during the next two days, but no significant change in either minimum or maximum temperatures is expected over central India during the next 24 hours. It also said there will not be any significant change in either minimum or maximum temperatures over the rest of India during the next 4-5 days. End
