India, Argentina ink memorandum of understanding to boost critical mineral exploration

MUMBAI – State-owned Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Ltd. and the Argentinian Provincial Government of Catamarca have signed a memorandum of understanding for deeper collaboration in the exploration and resource development of critical minerals, the Ministry of Mines said in a release Wednesday.
Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy held discussions with Catamarca Governor Ral Alejandro Jalil on expanding cooperation in the mining sector, particularly in lithium exploration and investment opportunities, the release said. Jalil is currently on a visit to India.
Argentina, which is known for its vast lithium reserves, is a crucial partner for India in securing essential minerals required for electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy storage, the release said. End
