Investment by Indian cos in overseas JVs, arms falls to $3.71 bln in Jan

MUMBAI – Investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries fell to $3.71 billion in January from $4.36 billion in December, data released by the Reserve Bank of India Friday showed. In January 2024, Indian companies had invested $2.45 billion in offshore JVs and subsidiaries.
Of the total investments in January, $2.15 billion was in the form of equity investment, against $1.46 billion the previous month. Companies committed $322.95 million in loans and $1.24 billion through guarantees in January, down from $849.58 million and $2.05 billion, respectively, in December.
The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the central bank said. End
