IMD sees rise in minimum, maximum temperatures over northwest, central India

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department Friday said minimum and maximum temperatures in northwest and central India are likely to rise by 2-5 degrees Celsius from Saturday to Tuesday.  

 

The weather bureau said a rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperature is likely in Maharashtra during the next four-five days. Maximum temperatures in the state are also likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius after being unchanged for the next 24 hours. 

 

Temperatures are likely to remain unchanged in Gujarat region during the next three days and thereafter, a gradual rise of about 2 degrees Celsius is expected, the department said. Maximum temperatures are also likely to rise by 2 degrees Celsius after remaining almost unchanged during the next three days. No significant change in minimum and maximum temperatures is likely in south India during the next two days and then, a gradual rise of 1-2 degrees Celsius is expected.

 

Meanwhile, the weather bureau said a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from Monday, which is likely to lead to isolated to scattered light rainfall or snowfall activity over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and west Uttar Pradesh. Light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim during the next seven days, the weather bureau said. 

      

Dense fog is likely to continue during early morning hours in pockets of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till Sunday. A cold wave is likely over parts of Himachal Pradesh till Saturday.  End
