HYDERABAD - Double-digit growth in the healthcare services business helped Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. report a consolidated net profit of INR 3.72 billion for the December quarter, up nearly 52% on year and higher than the Street's estimates. The net profit growth is slightly lower than in the last four quarters on year-on-year basis.
The company's revenue for the quarter rose nearly 14% on year to INR 55.27 billion, in line with estimates. The revenue growth is marginally lower compared to the last three quarters. Apollo Hospitals reported a marginal fall in its sequential performance as the company's net profit was down 1.8% while revenue was down over 1%.
Analysts had estimated Apollo Hospitals' consolidated net profit at INR 3.44 billion on revenue of INR 55.20 billion.
Chennai-based Apollo Hospitals' healthcare services segment registered 13% on-year growth in its revenue at INR 27.85 billion, led by improved occupancy across hospitals. For the December quarter, occupancy improved to 68% from 66% a year ago. As on Dec. 31, Apollo Hospitals had 7,996 operating beds.
The company's pharma distribution and retailing business arm Apollo HealthCo Ltd. reported on-year growth of 15% at INR 23.52 billion. Apollo HealthCo operates pharmacy distribution, pharmacy retailing and digital health platform Apollo 24/7. Apollo HealthCo added 132 new stores during the quarter, taking the total store count to 6,360.
The diagnostics and clinic services arm Apollo Health & Lifestyle Ltd., which runs Apollo clinics, posted 15% on-year growth in revenue at INR 3.90 billion.
The company's overall earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation margin for Oct-Dec was 13.8%, led by the healthcare services business.
The average revenue per occupied bed, a key metric in healthcare services business, improved 8% on year to INR 60,839, Apollo Hospitals said in an investor presentation. The company is scheduled to hold an investor call on Tuesday.
Apollo Hospitals said it is on track to add 3,152 new beds over three-four years beginning 2025-26 (Apr-Mar). The company said that growth in the healthcare services segment in the December quarter was aided by a strong increase in patient flow across hospitals.
The company's consolidated EBITDA rose 24% on year to INR 7.62 billion, led by growth across segments. The healthcare services EBITDA for the quarter improved 14% on year to INR 6.7 billion, while the segment EBITDA margin was 24.1%, according to a press release by the company.
Apollo HealthCo reported an EBITDA of INR 566 mln, against INR 19 mln a year ago, with an EBITDA margin of 2.4%. The gross merchandise value of Apollo 24/7 for the quarter was INR 7.6 billion, up 11% on year. Apollo Health & Lifestyle reported EBITDA of INR 340 mln, up 32% on year.
The company's total expenses for the quarter rose 12% on year to INR 50.6 billion. Employee costs were up nearly 12% on year at INR 6.8 billion, while finance costs declined 2.5% to INR 1.1 billion.
For the nine months ended December, Apollo Hospitals' net profit rose 63.8% on year to INR 10.6 billion, while the revenue was up nearly 15% at INR 162 billion. The company's board Monday approved interim dividend of INR 9 per share.
On Monday, shares of Apollo Hospitals ended at INR 6,761.25 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.4% from the previous close. End
