MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department said heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Arunachal Pradesh till Tuesday, because of two cyclonic circulations over northeastern India. One cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Bangladesh and its neighbourhood, while the other, at a lower tropospheric level, is seen over northeast Assam and its neighbourhood.
Under the influence of these two weather systems, the weather bureau sees scattered to fairly widespread light rainfall or snowfall over Arunachal Pradesh till Wednesday, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Nagaland are likely to see isolated light rainfall during the week.
The weather bureau also said a western disturbance as a cyclonic circulation at the lower and middle tropospheric levels over north Afghanistan and its neighbourhood is likely to cause isolated to scattered rainfall or snowfall over the western Himalayan region till Wednesday.
Dense fog is very likely to continue during the early hours in isolated pockets of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal till Wednesday, it said. The department sees a gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the western Himalayan region after the next 24 hours.
The bureau sees a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius over eastern India during the next two days and a fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the subsequent 2-3 days. No significant change in minimum temperature is likely over Maharashtra during the next two days. However, a fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius is expected in the subsequent 3-4 days. End
