Indian cos raise $9.54 bln via overseas debt in Dec vs $2.83 bln in Nov

MUMBAI – Indian companies has raised $9.54 billion through external commercial borrowings in December, sharply up from $2.83 billion raised in November, data released by the Reserve Bank of India Monday showed.
In December, Indian companies raised $6.23 billion through the automatic route, and $3.31 billion through the approval route, the data showed. Reliance Industries Ltd. raised the most money in December at $2.97 billion, followed by Shriram Finance Ltd., which raised $1.31 billion under the automatic route. Under the approval route, REC Ltd., Interglobe Aviation Ltd., Shriram Finance, and Tata Capital Ltd. raised money in December.
