MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over parts of Arunachal Pradesh and northeast Assam for Friday, Monday and Tuesday.

The above weather conditions are due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and neighbourhood at lower tropospheric levels, the weather bureau said. There is also a western disturbance which is likely to cause a fresh wet spell over the western Himalayan region during Saturday and Wednesday, it said.

The weather department predicts dense fog to continue during the early morning hours in parts of north Odisha till Sunday. It also forecasts cold wave conditions over parts of Himachal Pradesh on Friday.

On the temperature front, the weather bureau sees a gradual rise in minimum temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius over northwest India during the next three days and no significant change thereafter. A gradual fall in minimum temperatures by about 2-3 degrees Celsius is also likely over central India during the next two days and then a gradual rise by 2–4 degrees Celsius during the subsequent three days.

The Met Department does not foresee any significant change in minimum temperatures over east India for the next three days but predicted a gradual rise of 2–4 degrees Celsius during the subsequent two days. It sees a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius after 24 hours over Maharashtra during the subsequent four days.  End
