--Zomato to rename company to Eternal Ltd, brand to remain Zomato 
 
MUMBAI - Zomato Ltd. Thursday said its board has approved the change in the company's name to "Eternal" from "Zomato", and the consequential amendment in the memorandum of association and articles of association to give effect to the decision.

"When we acquired Blinkit, we started using "Eternal" (instead of Zomato) internally to distinguish between the company and the brand/app. We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there. We would like to rename Zomato Ltd., the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Ltd," Deepinder Goyal, chief executive officer of Zomato, said in a letter to shareholders.

The change is subject to the approval of the company's shareholders, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and other statutory authorities as required, the company said in a separate exchange filing.

Zomato reported a consolidated net profit of INR 590 million for the December quarter on a revenue of INR 54.05 billion. Shares of the company ended at INR 229.05 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.9%.  End
