MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department Tuesday said a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms is likely over northwest India till Wednesday. Similar weather conditions are also likely over Arunachal Pradesh and northeast Assam from Thursday to Friday. The weather bureau also said that parts of Arunachal Pradesh are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Friday.
The said weather conditions are due to a western disturbance seen as a trough at lower to upper tropospheric levels and an induced cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan and adjoining central Pakistan at lower tropospheric levels, the IMD said.
There is another fresh western disturbance which is likely to affect northwest India from Saturday, the weather bureau said. This is likely to cause isolated to scattered light rainfall or snowfall over the western Himalayan region during Saturday and Monday.
The weather bureau said there won't be any significant change in minimum temperatures over northwest and central India during the next 24 hours. However, in the next 2–4 days, a gradual fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius is expected. In western India, the department expects a gradual fall in minimum temperatures by about 2 degrees Celsius during the next two days and then rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius during the subsequent three days. Minimum temperatures are likely to be above normal by 3-5 degrees Celsius over central, east, and south India during the next 4–5 days.
The bureau said dense fog is very likely to continue early mornings in parts of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, and Himachal Pradesh during the week. End
