Eicher Motors' Royal Enfield Jan sales at 3-month high of 91,132 units

MUMBAI – Eicher Motors Ltd. Saturday said it sold 91,132 units of Royal Enfield motorcycles in January, 20% higher than the 76,187 units sold in the same period last year. The sales in January are the highest since October. Export of Royal Enfield motorcycles also rose sharply in January, by 79% to 10,080 units against 5,631 units a year ago, the company said in an exchange filing.
Segment wise, sales of models with engine capacity of up to 350 cubic-capacity rose 17% in January to 78,815 units from 67,620 units last year. Sales of motorcycles with engine capacity exceeding 350cc were up 44% at 12,317 units against 8,567 units, the company said.
For the Apr-Jan period, Eicher sold 818,209 Royal Enfield motorcycles, up 7% from the same period the previous year. During the period, the company exported 84,301 units, up 40% from a year ago.
Eicher Motors reported a consolidated net profit of INR 11 billion on revenue of INR 42.63 billion for the September quarter. On Saturday, shares of the company closed at INR 5,390.15 on the National Stock Exchange, up 3.8% from the previous close. End
