MUMBAI – Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over south Kerala and a trough in the south Bay of Bengal, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe on Friday, the India Meteorological Department said. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected over a few parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe till Sunday, the weather department said.
The weather bureau said a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam will likely bring scattered light to moderate rainfall to Nagaland, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on Friday. These weather conditions may continue over northeast Assam until Saturday and over Arunachal Pradesh until Sunday.
Due to the influence of multiple weather systems, thunderstorms with lightning are expected in parts of Punjab and Haryana on Friday. Light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is also expected over the western Himalayan region, as well as Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, till Saturday, according to the weather department.
A fresh western disturbance is expected to keep the wet spell going over parts of the western Himalayan region Tuesday. From Monday to Thursday, isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall or snowfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Scattered light rainfall is also expected in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan from Monday to Wednesday.
The weather bureau noted that minimum temperatures in northwest India are unlikely to change significantly over the next 48 hours, but a gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected thereafter. Similarly, minimum temperatures in Maharashtra are forecast to remain steady for the next 24 hours before rising by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
No significant change in minimum temperature is anticipated over central and eastern India, as well as Gujarat, over the next five days.
According to the India Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely during the night and early morning hours in pockets of west Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Bihar till Monday. End
