India Apr-Nov basmati rice exports rise 11.4% on year to $3.76 bln

MUMBAI – The value of India's basmati rice exports rose 11.4% on year to $3.76 billion in Apr-Nov, according to data collected by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. In terms of volume, basmati rice exports rose to 3.64 million tonnes in Apr-Nov from 2.99 million tonnes in the same period last year. 

 

Non-basmati rice exports dropped to 7.39 million tonnes during Apr-Nov from 7.69 million tonnes in the same period last year. In terms of value, exports rose on year by 15.2% to $3.53 billion from $3.07 billion. Similarly, total exports of farm products and processed foods rose 7.5% on year to $16.91 billion in Apr-Nov from the corresponding period a year ago.

 

Exports of dairy products rose 45% on year to $409 million in Apr-Nov. Exports of processed vegetables rose 31% on year to $518 million in Apr-Nov. The data also showed that exports of pulses rose nearly 16% on year to $472 million in Apr-Nov. Exports of groundnut fell to $499 million from $504 million a year ago.
