Minister Goyal meets Oman counterpart, discusses advancing FTA talks

NEW DELHI – Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal discussed advancing negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Oman's Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Minister Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef on Monday. Goyal, who is currently visiting Muscat, will be in Oman till Tuesday. 

 

"Our talks focused on advancing negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, strengthening trade and investment ties, and exploring avenues to further deepen our bilateral partnership," Goyal said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. India had started negotiations for a free trade agreement with Oman in 2023. 

 

Goyal will hold the India-Oman 11th Joint Commission Meeting on Tuesday. The two countries had a total trade of $8.95 billion in 2023-24 (Apr-Mar), which included exports worth $4.43 billion.  End
