IMD sees scattered rain, snow in parts of western Himalayan region till Thu

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast isolated to scattered rainfall and snowfall over parts of the western Himalayan region till Thursday. The weather bureau also expects isolated rainfall in parts of Rajasthan on Wednesday, and in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh till Thursday. Such weather conditions occur under the influence of western disturbance, a cyclonic circulation over Punjab and the neighbourhood areas at lower tropospheric levels, it said.
According to the agency's bulletin, thunderstorm is likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and west Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Similar weather conditions are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal the same day.
Dense to very dense fog is very likely to prevail late Wednesday and early Thursday in pockets of east Uttar Pradesh and parts of Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. These conditions are also likely in Rajasthan, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha till Friday, and parts of Uttar Pradesh till Sunday, the weather bureau said.
The department also sees cold-day conditions in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Bihar till Thursday. End
