NEW DELHI - The Union Cabinet Wednesday approved a 6% hike in the minimum support price of raw jute for the 2025-26 (Jul-Jun) season. The minimum support price of raw jute has been hiked by INR 315 per 100 kg to INR 5,650 per 100 kg, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal briefed the media after the Cabinet meeting.

The increase in the MSP would ensure a return of 66.8% over the all-India weighted average cost of production, according to an official release. The government has increased jute MSP by 2.35 times from INR 2,400 per 100 kg in 2014-15 to INR 5,650 per 100 kg in 2025-26, it added. The higher MSP will benefit round 4 mln farmers and 500,000 organised and unorganised workers in the jute milling industry.  End
