EPFO adds net 1.46 mln subscribers in Nov, up 4.9% on year

NEW DELHI – The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation net added 1.46 million subscribers in November, 4.9% higher than a year ago, according to data released by the labour ministry on Wednesday. The number of net members added in November was 9.1% higher than in October.
Of the net subscribers added in November, around 874,000 came under the social security cover of the EPFO for the first time, 18.8% higher than a year ago and 16.6% higher than October. "This surge in new memberships can be attributed to growing employment opportunities, increased awareness of employee benefits, and EPFO's successful outreach programs," the ministry said.
Around 55.0% of the new members added in November were in the age group of 18-25. New members added in the month from the 18-25 age group were 9.7% higher than in October and 14.0% higher than in November 2023.
The first-time members included around 240,000 females, up 23.6% from a year ago. "The increase in female member additions is indicative of a broader shift towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce," the ministry said.
Maharashtra added 20.9% of the total net members during the month. Individually, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Gujarat, Delhi, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh added more than 5% of the total net members during the month, the ministry said.
Of the total net membership, around 39.0?dition was from expert services consisting of manpower suppliers, normal contractors, security services, and miscellaneous activities, the labour ministry said. The EPFO payroll data is provisional and subject to revisions. End
