Vietnamese automaker Vinfast forays into Indian market with two SUV EVs

NEW DELHI – Vietnamese automaker VinFast Auto Ltd. Saturday announced its foray into the Indian market with the unveiling of two premium electric sport utility vehicles at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The two models – VF 7 and VF 6 – are expected to hit the roads in the early second half of 2025, the company said. The company has not made prices of the models public yet.
NASDAQ-listed VinFast Auto last year had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to set up a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi. As per the pact, the company committed to invest INR 40 billion in the first phase towards building the integrated electric vehicle facility over five years. With a capacity of 150,000 units, the company aims to export vehicles to countries in South Asia, West Asia and Africa.
The company, which also makes electric scooters, bikes and buses, showcased the VF 8, VF 3, VF e34, and VF 9 cars at the Expo. Alongside, it also showcased the Evo 200, Klara, Feliz, and other electric scooters. VinFast Auto was founded by and is run by Pham Nhat Vuong, Vietnam's richest man. Apart from Vietnam, the company currently sells its electric vehicles in the US and Europe, and also has a presence in Thailand. End
