--Indian Bank: Govt appointed Binod Kumar as MD, CEO of bank for 3 years
NEW DELHI – The government has appointed Binod Kumar as managing director and chief executive officer of Indian Bank for three years, the lender informed the exchanges Thursday. Kumar assumed office Thursday. His predecessor in the post, Shanti Lal Jain, retired Dec. 31.
Prior to being appointed as managing director and chief executive officer of Indian Bank, Kumar was an executive director with Punjab National Bank. The Financial Services Institutions Bureau had recommended him to lead Indian Bank in November.
Kumar is a graduate in science from Ranchi University and holds a post-graduate diploma in Banking and Finance from the National Institute of Bank Management. Shares of Indian Bank closed 4.9% higher Thursday at INR 527.35 on the National Stock Exchange. End
