Investment by Indian cos in overseas JVs, arms rises to $4.26 bln in Dec

MUMBAI – Investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries rose 51.1% in December to $4.26 billion from $2.82 billion in November, data released by the Reserve Bank of India Wednesday showed. In December last year, Indian companies had invested $2.59 billion in offshore JVs and subsidiaries.
Of the total investments in December, $1.40 billion was in the form of equity investment, against $946.79 million in November. Companies also committed $844.26 million in loans and $2.02 billion through guarantees in December, compared with $1.23 billion and $641.40 million, respectively, in November.
The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the central bank said. End
