India's tea exports rise 15.3% on year to INR 57.1 billion in Jan-Oct

MUMBAI – India exported tea worth INR 57.1 billion in Jan-Oct, up 15.3% on year from INR 49.5 billion in the same period last year, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. The exports in volume terms rose 13.4% on year to 209.14 million kilograms in Jan-Oct from 184.46 million kg in the same period of last year.
The average unit price of tea exported from the country rose to INR 272.98 per kg from INR 268.54 per kg a year ago, according to the data. Exports from north India rose 11.3% on year to 124.25 million kg, the data showed. Exports from south India increased 16.7% on year to 84.89 million kg.
The average price of tea exported from North India was INR 308.57 per kg, up from INR 295.48 per kg in the corresponding period last year. However, the average price of tea exported from south India fell to INR 220.89 per kg in Jan-Oct from INR 227.19 per kg in the corresponding period, the data showed.
The total value of tea exports from north India in Jan-Oct was INR 38.3 billion, up from INR 33.0 billion a year ago. The value of tea exported from south India was INR 18.8 billion during the period, up from INR 16.5 billion in the same period last year. End
