HYDERABAD – NTPC Green Energy Ltd's upcoming green hydrogen hub will significantly boost Andhra Pradesh's goal of becoming a $2.5 trillion economy by 2047, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday.
Modi laid the foundation stone for an INR 1.85 trillion green hydrogen hub, being developed by NTPC Green Energy at Pudimadaka, near Visakhapatnam. He also inaugurated several development initiatives in the state, including a bulk drug park at Nakkalapally, the KrisCity project at Krishnapatnam, and various railway projects.
The prime minister said that the green hydrogen hub will place Visakhapatnam on the world map as a pioneer in the green energy sector, which represents the future. He noted that NTPC Green's project is one of two major investments in India designed to achieve a 5-million-tonne green hydrogen production capacity by 2030, aligning with the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Modi assured full support to Andhra Pradesh from the central government in achieving its ambitious growth targets. He said that the KrisCity project would emerge as a model for new-age urbanisation and could become a critical hub along the Bengaluru-Chennai industrial corridor. End
