Eicher Motors' Dec motorcycle sales rise 25% YoY as exports zoom 90%

MUMBAI – Despatches of Royal Enfield motorcycles in December increased in double digits due to a strong export performance after a moderate November reading, Eicher Motors Ltd. said in an exchange filing Thursday. Shares of Eicher Motors spiked 6.3% on the National Stock Exchange following the disclosure, as the scrip traded at INR 5,195.15 a piece at 1149 IST.
The company sold 79,466 Royal Enfield motorcycles in December, up 25% on year. Despatches of models with an engine capacity of up to 350cc grew 25% on-year to 69,476 units in the final month of the calendar year. Models exceeding 350cc engine capacity, too, grew 25% on year in December, with sales of 9,990 units. In Apr-Dec, the company sold 727,077 motorcycles in India and abroad, up 6% on year.
In India, the company sold 67,891 units in December, up 19% on year. In Apr-Dec, it sold 652,856 units, up 4% on-year. Overseas, 11,575 Royal Enfield bikes were despatched in December, at a growth of 90% on year. In Apr-Dec, the company exported 74,221 units, up 35% on year.
"As we gear up for 2025, we are looking forward to sustaining our growth momentum and continue inspiring our riding community across the globe with Pure Motorcycling initiatives across the board," said B. Govindarajan, chief executive officer, Royal Enfield.
During the final quarter of 2024, the company commenced operations at Samut Prakan, Thailand, its fully-owned and operated assembly facility outside India. Apart from this, the company has overseas plants in Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
For Jul-Sept, Eicher Motors reported a consolidated net profit of INR 11 billion on revenue of INR 42.63 billion. End
