MUMBAI – The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the extension of the one-time special package for di-ammonium phosphate fertiliser in order to ensure its sustainable availability at affordable prices to farmers, an official release said. The tentative budgetary requirement for the extension of the package would be approximately INR 38.50 billion, the release said.
The special package will be beyond the nutrient-based subsidy at INR 3,500 per tonne and will be in force from Wednesday until further orders, it said.
Informist had earlier on Wednesday reported, quoting government sources, that the Cabinet is likely to have approved an extra subsidy for DAP fertilisers.
The Cabinet had in July 2024 approved a one-time special package for DAP fertilisers beyond the nutrient-based subsidy at INR 3,500 per tonne from Apr. 1 to Dec. 31, with an approximate financial implication of INR 26.25 billion, the release said. End
