NEW DELHI – Punjab National Bank has been left without a managing director and chief executive officer after Atul Kumar Goel retired from the position on Wednesday.
The lender informed exchanges that Goel ceased to be the managing director and chief executive officer of the bank, effective Wednesday, upon his superannuation on Tuesday. The government has not yet announced a successor to Goel, who had held the post since February 2022.
In October, the Financial Services Institutions Bureau had recommended Ashok Chandra as the next managing director and chief executive officer of Punjab National Bank after interviewing 16 candidates. Chandra is an executive director at Canara Bank and holds a masters in economics. He is also a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.
At 1052 IST, shares of Punjab National Bank were up 0.07% at INR 102.79 on the National Stock Exchange. End
