IMD sees heavy rains over south Tamil Nadu on cyclonic circulation on Tue

MUMBAI – A cyclonic circulation over the equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels is likely to cause heavy rainfall over parts of south Tamil Nadu Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department said. Also, light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over the region. 

 

Meanwhile, dense fog conditions are likely to continue over parts of northwest India over the next 24 hours and improve thereafter. The IMD has issued warning for a cold day to severe cold day conditions for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan for Tuesday. The weather bureau also issued warning for cold wave conditions for parts of Himachal Pradesh for Tuesday. Ground frost conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh till Thursday.

 

Dense fog conditions are very likely during the late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till Sunday. Similar weather conditions are over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh till Wednesday, the Met department said. 

 

The minimum temperatures are expected to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius over east India during the next 24 hours and over Maharashtra during the next three days. A rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures over Gujarat is expected during the next five days, the IMD said.  End
