NEW DELHI – The government has imposed anti-dumping duty on 'digital offset printing plates' imported from China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam, the finance ministry said in a notification Thursday.
Digital offset printing plates are reusable metal plates usually made of aluminium. They are etched with digital images and used in offset printing to transfer ink onto paper or other materials, enabling high-quality mass production of printed material such as books, magazines, and packaging.
The government will levy anti-dumping duty in the range of $0.13-$0.60 per square metre on the import of the digital printing plates from the countries mentioned, according to the notification. The duty is effective for five years, the ministry said.
In September, the commerce ministry's Directorate General of Trade Remedies had recommended an anti-dumping duty on these thin metal sheets used in printing. The department had carried out an investigation that showed the domestic market incurred material injury due to the cheaper imported products. End
