NEW DELHI – The top 1,000 listed companies by market capitalisation will have to follow the standards specified by the industry standards forum for listed companies in preparing and publishing the core version of the business responsibility and sustainability report in their annual reports, the Securities and Exchange Board of India said in a circular Friday. The industry standards forum comprises the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Confederation of Indian Industry, and the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India.
SEBI directed the three corporate lobby groups and the stock exchanges to publish the industry standards for the core business responsibility and sustainability report. The market regulator said listed companies will have to follow these standards from 2024-25 (Apr-Mar) onwards to ensure compliance with SEBI requirements on the core report.
SEBI's requirements are already a part of its listing obligations and disclosure requirement regulations. The business responsibility and sustainability report for the top 1,000 listed companies by market capitalisation became mandatory from FY23 onwards.
The core business responsibility and sustainability report is a sub-set of the business responsibility and sustainability report and the top 150 listed companies by market capitalisation were already required to disclose it for FY24. The next top 150 listed companies will have to comply with this core report disclosure from FY25 onwards. The subsequent 250 companies are required to comply from FY26 onwards and the 500 companies after that from FY27 onwards. End
