India gets 39% above normal rainfall at 6.0 mm in week ended Wed, says IMD

--IMD: India rainfall in week to Wednesday 39% above normal at 6.0 mm
MUMBAI – India received an average rainfall of 6.0 millimetre in the week ended Wednesday, 39% above the normal of 3.8 millimetre for the period, the India Meteorological Department said. Three out of the four homogeneous regions in the country received below-normal rainfall during the week, the weather bureau said.
South peninsular India received 290% above-normal rainfall during the week at 30.1 millimetre. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal received 464% above normal rainfall at 116.3 millimetre, while Kerala and Mahe got 261% higher showers at 26.3 millimetre.
Northwest India recorded 0.2 millimetre of rain, 97% lower than the normal rainfall for the period, the data showed. Rainfall in east and northeast India was down 99% during the week at 0.0 millimetre. Central India received no rainfall during the week, the agency said.
Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was 'deficient' in two and 'large deficient' in three during the week. Rainfall was 'large excess' in five subdivisions, while 26 subdivisions received no rain at all during the week.
Since Oct. 1, India has received 105.6 millimetre of rainfall, 8% below the normal of 115.0 millimetre for the period. End
