NEW DELHI – The commerce ministry's Directorate General of Trade Remedies initiated 43 anti-dumping investigation cases so far in 2024, Minister of State for Commerce Jitin Prasada said Tuesday. Most of the cases involve various commodities imported from China, the minister said.

"The Directorate General of Trade Remedies, an attached office of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, conducts trade remedy investigations for countering dumping activities by foreign industries, particularly by certain Chinese industries," Prasada told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.

After the agency carries out an investigation, the trade ministry recommends an anti-dumping duty on the import of the commodity. The finance ministry takes the final call on the matter, usually within three months of the recommendation.  End
