NEW DELHI – A total of INR 17.51 billion has been sanctioned under the government's PM Vishwakarma scheme as of Oct. 31, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary told Parliament Tuesday. The number of accounts under the scheme were 202,631 at the end of October, Chaudhary said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

The figures were part of a question on the challenges faced by people in rural areas in getting loans under major schemes. "In order to overcome the challenges faced by borrowers, particularly in rural areas, and to facilitate easy flow of credit to cater to the needs of the population, government has taken various measures," Chaudhary said.

PM Vishwakarma scheme, which comes under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, supports artisans and craftspeople through collateral-free credit, tools, and skill training.  End
